How it works
Four steps, at your pace

Visit a meeting
Come to any troop meeting with your Scout. We meet the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month. No registration, no uniform, nothing to buy. Introduce yourself to a leader at the door and they will take it from there.

Try an outing
Prospective Scouts are welcome to join a day activity or a campout before committing. It is the fastest way to know whether the troop is a fit.

Register
When you are ready, we help you complete the Scouting America youth application online and get your Scout into Scoutbook. A leader walks you through it.

Get equipped
The troop provides tents and group gear. We give you a personal equipment list and a realistic order to buy it in, so nobody spends a fortune up front.
What to expect
Your first meeting, honestly
Meetings are loud. Scouts run them, which means they are more energetic and less polished than a classroom, and that is by design. Expect an opening flag ceremony, patrol time, a skill session, a game, and announcements.
Wear whatever is comfortable. Plan for about an hour and a half. A leader will find you, answer questions, and introduce your Scout to a patrol so they are not standing on the edge of the room.
Bring your questions about cost, time, and safety. We would rather answer them on night one than have you guess.
What it costs
Troop 1192 chartered this year and is setting its dues now, so we would rather tell you the real numbers in person than post a guess here.
There are three costs in Scouting: annual registration paid to Scouting America, troop dues, and the cost of individual trips. Ask at your first meeting and a leader will walk you through all three, with no obligation.
Cost is never the reason a Scout cannot join.Financial assistance is available and handled privately. Ask any leader.
